Liu Ye

Ye Liu is a PhD candidate in sociology at the New School for Social Research, New York. He has a background in anthropology (Sun Yat-sen University, B.A.), sociology (London School of Economics, M.A.) and architecture (Certificate). As an interdisciplinary researcher, Ye Liu has a wide interest in architecture, technology, geogrpahy, decolonialization, the Third World, Cold War/global sixties, socialist modernity, etc. His dissertation project is devoted to a theoretical reconstruction of socialism’s historical position in de/post-colonial politics by reviewing China’s climate-responsive architectural design and building practice in African tropical areas during the 1960s-70s. Ye Liu’s projects have been supported by programs including Andrew W. Mellon Integrative PhD Fellowship.
