Orit Halpern is an associate professor in sociology and anthropology at Concordia University. Her work bridges the histories of science, computing and cybernetics with design. She has published widely and has held numerous visiting scholar positions. Her forthcoming book (MIT Press Fall 2022) titled The Smartness Mandate will examine the changing relationship between ecology, habitat, finance and artificial intelligence. Her future projects investigate how we are designing planetary futures and managing uncertainty.
