Tan Yue is a curator and researcher currently residing in Guangzhou, she served in the Curatorial and Research Department at the Guangdong Times Museum from 2013 to 2022. During her she played a pivotal role in the research, curating, and production of various exhibition projects. In recent years, her research has concentrated on the cultural roots of oceans and islands, aiming to disrupt land-centric perspectives while exploring the intricate relationships between humans, materials, and species. She investigates the tension and gray area between civilization and nature. From 2015 to 2019, she initiated the “Banyan Commune” artist residency program, which sought to enhance interaction between art and local communities. In 2023, she co-founded the “Unlearning Curriculum” curatorial workshop with Nikita Yingqian Cai to delve deeper into the connections between theory and practice, as well as the interplay between individual interests and collective thought. Additionally, she is one of the hosts of the podcast “Rolling Congee.”
