Xiaoxue Gao holds a PhD in urban sociology. She also has an academic background in urban planning and geography. Her research interests include social space formation, intercultural space and socio-ecological spatial reconfiguration in the context of compressed modernisation. She currently works at the Leibniz Institute for Ecological Urban and Regional Development (Germany).
